In 2007 the Business Commission started a major project for JCI Luxembourg
called CYEL (Creative Young Entrepreneur Luxembourg Award). The ambition of
this award is to determine the most Creative Young Entrepreneur in established in Luxembourg.
Who Are We Looking For?
Every year we look for individuals between 18 and 40, who
work within or own a company established in Luxembourg and use their creativity
to boost
an existing business, solve a problem, modify a process, launch a new field
of activity or change business operations in order to create added value. These
creative young entrepreneurs used creativity in product development, service
development, and in their approach to the market. They might also have taken
an existing business and incorporated creativity to solve a problem, or change
a process, to create positive change in their business operations. There is
no limitation in the domain of activity, this contest adresses as well private
and public sector, public initiatives and nongovernmental organizations.
Main Goals
To honour creative young entrepreneurs
To create interest in entrepreneurship among innovative young
people
To promote and support business creativity and new enterprise
or segment development
To promote JCI as well as the project sponsors as leaders in
creating, supporting and honouring
the entrepreneurial spirit
To contribute to the advancement of the global community as
stated in the JCI mission
JCI Luxembourg is deeply honored to
announce that one of this year’s CYEL finalists, Mr. Stéphane
Ledermann from SmartAir, is among the three finalists of this
year’s International Creative Young Entrepreneur Award 2009!
In November 2009 during the JCI World Congress
in Hammamet, Tunisia the final judging round will take place.

And the winner is ....
Let's discover a presentation the winner Sylvain Zimmer provided us with:
On June 29th, JCI Luxembourg (Jeune
Chambre Economique du Grand-Duché de
Luxembourg
asbl) organized the third award ceremony
of the "Creative Young Entrepreneur Luxembourg” (www.cyel.lu).
During this ceremony, which was rich
in emotions, Sylvain Zimmer (Founder, CTO) of
jamendo s.a., won the trophy for the young entrepreneur of
the year 2009 in Luxembourg, as well as € 1,700.
Jamedo, from the contraction between "Jam" and "crescendo" is
an innovative platform for the legal downloading of free and
unlimited music.
The two other finalists were Stéphane
Ledermann, (founder, CEO) of Smart Air, first fractional ownership
solution of D-Jets in Europe, and Jérôme Bloch (CEO) of MyOfficialStory,
a concept that enables registered members to create On-line
profiles to promote their image in a controlled and secure
framework. They were also rewarded by receiving € 1,200 and
€ 600 respectively.
The prizes have been handed over in
presence of Mr. Tom Theves, adviser of the government at the
Ministry of Economy, Mr Xavier Buck (EuroDNS), CYEL winner
2008, Mrs. Sophie Krauss (Editus) and Mr. Keith O’Donnell
(Atoz).
Furthermore, the JCI has named the three
national finalists Sylvain
Zimmer, Stéphane Ledermann and Jérôme Bloch, as ambassadors
of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg at the
Creative Young Entrepreneur Award world finals to be held
next November in Hammamet.
The national selection has been made
by a jury of professionals, all partners of JCI, composed
of Mrs. Rachel Gaessler (Business Initiative), Frédérique
Gueth (1, 2, 3 GO), Mr. Diego De Biasio (Technoport), Michele
Gallo (Luxinnovation), Yves Kemp (KPMG), Mr. Mike Koedinger

Lunghi (Mudam).
This year's jury awarded a "Coup

In her speech, Mrs. Hedda Pahlson-Moller,
Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at John F. Welch College
of Business, Sacred Heart University, Managing Director of
Evalueserve Benelux and Founder and CEO of Omnisource International,
emphasized that the key ingredients to the entrepreneurial
adventure are inspiration, motivation, a dash of luck plus
a few people who really believe in you. According to Mrs.
Pahlson everyone needs an environment where there is some
room for creativity and failure, and it can be created just
about anywhere.
JCI Luxembourg thanked all the sponsors, without
whom the organization of such an event would not have been
possible as well as the Philharmonie for its collaboration.
JCI Luxembourg hopes to rely on their fidelity for the 2010
edition.
The contest CYEL is labeled as part of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation.
